HPV and Cervical Cancer -- Getting the Full Picture

Most recently we have completed our third HPV PSA campaign, partnering again with Edelman Public Relations in New York and for the first time with the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation. Filmed on location in Heritage State Park in beautiful Holyoke, MA, the spot focuses on a curious photo booth that takes pictures but also takes our unsuspecting couple to a new level of understanding about the connection between HPV and cervical cancer. The PSA will be nationally distributed in English and Spanish to major TV and radio stations as well as college campuses across the country.

Meet Mike

In the fall of 2008, Parallax completed a documentary-style PSA and Web series "Mike's Story". Mike was your average guy -- husband, father, business owner, and little league coach. But that all changed when he hurt himself at work and slowly became addicted to the opioid painkillers his doctor prescribed. Mike's rock-bottom-to-recovery-story is told through a national TV and radio PSA campaign as well as a short Webisodic series featured across the Web including that of non-profit partner, National Alliance of Advocates for Buprenorphine Treatment (NAABT), at http://www.naabt.org/mike/. Parallax is proud to have partnered with NAABT and Feinstein Kean Healthcare PR on this important campaign.

Having Conversations

“Conversations with Carlos Watson,” a series of prime-time specials, premiered on national television in March 2007. Parallax Productions produced the series, which has featured: Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Heidi Klum, Eva Longoria, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Joss Stone, Naomi Campbell, Rudy Giuliani, John Legend, and Arnold Schwarzenegger among others. In 2008, the series received accolades at the Emmy, Telly and Gracie Awards.

Heartfelt Success

In the summer of 2007, Cohn & Wolfe partnered with Parallax to produce the "Heartfelt for Life: Strengthening Your Heart" fitness program video. The video starred renowned cardiologist, Dr. Mehmet Oz, as well as fitness and nutrition expert, Bob Greene. This campaign was a huge hit across the country, appearing on such high-caliber shows as Good Morning America, Larry King Live and Good Day New York - media attention that resulted in more than 32,500 DVD orders to date!

Differin Clears Up the Stigma of Acne

In early 2007, Parallax teamed up with Euro RSCG and Galderma to create and produce a three-part Webisodic series. The series documented a young girl’s journey as she finally conquered the acne that had caused her emotional and physical pain for most of her adolescence. The final triumphant episode takes place at her senior prom! The series was posted on a host site as well as various other locations including Yahoo! Video, YouTube, and iFilm.

Cervical Cancer/HPV PSA Makes Millions of Connections

Parallax is proud to have collaborated with Merck, Edelman, Step-Up Women’s Network, and the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation on this record-making PSA campaign. The first iteration, which aired from January-October 2006 and starred Law and Order actress Elisabeth Rohm, earned over 83 million impressions. But it didn’t stop there. In 2007, Make the Connection did it again with the incomparable Kimberly Elise. Still in heavy rotation in 2007 and earning over 85 million impressions, it has proven to be yet another proud success for everyone involved and, most importantly, educated millions of people across the country about the connection between HPV and cervical cancer.
